Snowstorm Vocabulary.

Well it is finally upon us. Today we are bracing ourselves for the first storm of the year. All the schools in beautiful Quebec City are in the process of shutting down for the rest of the day. So pretty soon it will be traffic chaos as snowplows, school buses and commuters make their respective journeys.

Here's some common ESL vocabulary.

VERBS

To fall
Ex: We expect 30 centimetres of snow to fall on Quebec City today.

To shovel
Ex: Now that all of the snow has fallen, I must shovel.

To plow
Ex: The trucks are plowing the streets to clear the snow.

To close
Ex: They are closing the school because of the snow storm.
